Need some flooring? I've got a great local company for you!

As you can tell from the lack of posts, life has been a bit crazy for my family!!

One of the things keeping us busy was the need to 'spiff' up a rental house we own.  The previous occupants lived there for 5 years so there was quite a bit to do!

Besides painting, one of the biggest changes we made to the house was new carpeting through all but one room.

We had thought we had found the just right carpeting at a non-local retailer but it didn't work out with them.  We are so glad that it didn't!!!  After talking to a friend, we were told that a local family that we knew in passing had a flooring company.

The company?
David C Bouyer Company
(503) 722-0095
14214 Fir St, Oregon City, OR 97045

The owners are David and Heather.  We had contact with both but mainly worked with Rick.

We could not have been happier!!  We went in at 10 am on Tuesday, Rick was in the house measuring by noon and the carpet began being laid by 9 am on Wednesday!  The price could not be beat and an 8 lb pad was standard-which is super cushy under foot!!  Their excellent service will make us lifetime customers and I just wanted to share it with you.

I have not been compensated what-so-ever to write this review

Want to get pampered for less?

So a friend's comment on Facebook that she needs to be pampered reminded me of this....

Ever tried the Aveda Institute?  What is it you say...well, It's the beauty school for Aveda salons and spas.  I've been there about 6 times and have enjoyed every single visit!  In fact one of my visits was for my daughter's birthday party.  I let her take 5 friends to get manicures and then we went home for a slumber party!  Her very luxurious birthday party was $60 plus some snacks and cake!  Every single time that student providing the service has been professional and extremely service oriented.  Each service is inspected by a licensed instructor.

At the Portland salon you can get;
A facial (different varieties available) from $25
Makeup application from $15 - they also have lash application and brow/lash tinting from $8
Eyebrow wax from $8 - they wax all areas!
Haircuts from $10 - they have all Chemical Hair services available included color, highlight, and moisture treatments.
Mani-$12
Pedi- $18
See the complete list here
So...you can get a Pedi, Mani, AND Facial for what a Facial normally costs!!!

The one in Portland is located 325 NW 13th (in the Pearl District).  Every time I've been there I have gotten a parking place right on front-so parking is not an issue.  They are open Tues-Thurs from 1 to 6 pm and Friday and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm.

The one thing I was not prepared for is that while tips are not expected, they are appreciated.  But you have to give them directly to the student (in cash) and cannot tip using your credit card when you are paying for the service.
For other locations go here, there are 50 so there's a good chance there is one near you.

I have not been compensated what-so-ever by the Aveda Institute for these comments.  This is solely my opinion.

Sale at the Learning Palace

I love, love, love The Learning Palace!  They have wonderful educational toys and really fun quality ones as well!  They have tons of Thomas, Brio, Playmobil, Melissa and Doug, and the most original craft kits for kids!
Through April 23rd they are having a great sale!  So head on over there.  You could get some great deals for items you'll need for those Easter Baskets!

Thanks so much to Frugal Living NW for this info!

Need some flowers for your yard? Portland area readers, you're in luck!

Saturday is the first day of Spring and you know what that means?!?!  Gardening!!!

I don't have a very green thumb but I like to hang baskets and fill a few containers to add some beautiful color to my yard.  For the last 9 years, I have been ordering from a wonderful nursery (New Leaf Greenhouse) as a fundraiser for a preschool.  Well, this fundraiser is now available at my older kid's school!

Go here for more ordering information, the deadline has just been extended to April 8th so ignore the March 19th deadline on there!

These flowers are gorgeous!  I particularly like to geraniums which are only $3.25 each for a 4" pot.
The annual samples add great variety to your garden for only $17.50 a Full Flat-that is 36 plants!  That is less than 50c a plant!  I promise you these are quality plants AND they help to support a great school!

Free Fruit Sunday!

Edible Arrangements is offering up free samples of their dipped fruit this Sunday (3/14/10)!
Have you ever had one??  DELICIOUSNESS!
I do need to let you know that the owners of the West Linn and Hillsboro Edible Arrangement are friends of mine.  But I would love these no matter!
When I had surgeries last summer, I got a couple of these arrangements and they were SO YUMMY and cute!  So much more unique than sending flowers!
So head on over to one of their stores on Sunday and have a taste test!  Click on either of my links to find a store near you.  The West Linn Store is open 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
